Some might argue that the Brush Type 4 Locos, which later became Class 47s, were THE most successful design that the British Rail modernisation plan spawned. This certainly led to 512 being built and it is testimony to the design and haulage capabilities that some of these Locos are still with us today both on the Mainline and in Preservation. This Gallery by no means charts the complete history of the Class but gives an insight into duties performed by the class in their run down and also shows the myriad of Liveries carried by the Class.
