Much excitement when 60001 was allox the 6M20 Whatley to St Pancras however this soon turned to despair when I learnt that 66168 would lead between Whatley and Westbury to get it in position for the 6O41 to Eastleigh. Here is 6M20 running nearly an hour late on the approach to Westbury. 28th October 2014
You've heard the phrase 'you wait ages for 1 and then 2 come along together', well this is what happened at Severn Tunnel Jn. With no other freights about, I waited 80 mins and got both of these at just after 4,30pm. On the right is 66121 with the 6V07 Round Oak-Margam and on the left is 60087 with the 6V62 Tilbury-Llanwern. 3rd September 2014
A change of location sees me down at Alexandra Dock Jn just in time to see 'Army Tug' 60040 depart with the 6B61 Cardiff Dock-Trostre loaded Coil train. This bridge now has a very high wire mesh attached and you will need a 6 foot ladder to see over the top OR use one of the holes cut in the mesh as I have done here. 3rd September 2014
This is the 6H46 steel train from Birdport-Llanwern entering East Usk Yd to run round and also to detach the Shark Brake van seen at the rear of the train. Due to no run round facilities at Birdport, the train is propelled down the branch with the Shunter riding in the Brake van. Can't be too many places in the Country where this sort of operation happens almost on a daily basis. 3rd September 2014
My first trip to Wales for quite some time, made on the back of an improving weather forecast and the prospect of Colas 56s on Logs and Steel. Well, the weather stayed cloudy, the Logs were Caped but here are the 56s on the Steel! 302 leads 087 on the 6Z42 Newport Dks-Llanwern at Somerton. 3rd September 2014
